Organisation

Our faculty was established under the Rectorate of Kayseri University with the Law on the Amendment of the Higher Education Law and Some Decree Laws published in the Official Gazette dated 18 May 2018 and numbered 30425. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature, which was opened within the Develi Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, started education by accepting its first students as of the 2021-2022 academic year.

Programme Profile

The aim of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature is to train qualified and well-equipped Turkish Language and Literature experts-Turkologists who will conduct scientific and academic researches in the field of Turkish Language and Literature and share them with the world of science and the public, observe the needs of our country and society for Turkish Language and Literature in communication, socialisation and scientific sense and produce appropriate solutions for them. At the same time, it is to provide its members with a systematic, consistent and critical perspective, to contribute to the continuity of social peace by not only protecting but also developing our values that determine our identity, and to continuously cooperate with public institutions and non-governmental organisations for these purposes.

The employment area of the graduates of the department of Turkish Language and Literature, whose field of influence is growing with the globalising world and whose new fields such as media literacy are increasing day by day, is quite wide. Many private or state-affiliated institutions need instructors, archive officers, press-publication officers, librarians who have a good command of Ottoman Turkish and Turkey Turkish. In addition, Turkologists are needed to work in every corner of our country in order to prevent the degeneration of the Turkish language with the influence of the digital world and social media and to instil this duty in new generations. Turkologists who will graduate from our department will teach Turkish to new generations in the right way and ensure the correct and effective use of our language, as well as scientific
